Film ‘Ticket to Paradise’: The Affinity of Millions by George Clooney and Julia Roberts

This is the case of “Ticket to Paradise”, a new film by OI Parker (“Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!”), which has two big stars in its cast: Julia Roberts and George Clooney.
The production is nothing more, nothing less, than a bunch of clichés: an ex-couple (Roberts and Clooney) who hate each other, are successful, and behave childishly when they are together. The only thing holding them together is their daughter, Lily (Kaitlyn Dever). The girl even seems to be more mature than her parents. After graduating in Law, she and her friend Wren (Billie Lourd) travel to Bali and, among the wonders offered by the island, Lily falls in love with a young businessman from there, Gede (Maxime Bouttier). A little over a month later, they decided to get married. The unexpected information takes the lives of the parents by surprise, who must put their differences aside and sabotage this marriage. But it won’t be a very easy mission, after all, the two who don’t stop fighting, can’t stand each other.

Drawing a Parallel
It is impossible not to draw a parallel between the productions “Ticket to Paradise” and “Mamma Mia 2”, as director Parker uses practically the same things to be able to attract spectators: such as relevant names in the cinema, well-worn history – “My Best Friend’s Wedding” and “Runaway Bride”?), paradisiacal locations and mainly the stereotyped view of a local people as something exotic, eccentric, to cause laughter at their behavior, language, and traditions that are different from them.
But every film has its positive point, and in this case, they are Julia Roberts and Clooney. They are two wonderful artists and friends for a long time, they flow in affinity. Their fun shows on the screens. Two great names in cinema, consecrated, who are there to have fun and have the mission to do that with those who are watching too.
It is also commendable to see that Julia Roberts, the young lady who starred in hundreds of comedies, is no longer that young, she is today, a beautiful lady who plays the role of the young lady’s mother. This, however, does not prevent her from being able to carry ‘Ticket to Paradise’ “on her back”.
Verdict
The film “Ticket to Paradise” is the basic formula of a genre film, realizing that where there is a lot of hate, there is great love behind it and strong stars to compensate for the lack of complications in the script (also signed by Parker), but which manage to get a good laugh, because romantic comedies are: the fantasy of ideal love.
