Genre of ‘The Death Nurse’
The Nurse of Death is a typical production of a serial killer, but it is developed in an atypical way: there is no way to have thrills, that is, shocks, tension when the act would cause Amy’s death. Her exploration of heart disease drops like a ticking time bomb that is always on the verge of exploding but never does. For this, the sound editing mixes sounds of the patients’ heartbeats on the monitor with the irregularity of the protagonist’s own heart rhythm, and even makes the viewer wonder about the need for the scenes that have Amy running up the hospital stairs. In fact, Amy was just going to check to see if the serums were tampered with in the pantry. The script also explores the coexistence of hospitals with the crimes committed. Criticism of the North American Health System
Director Tobias Lindholm criticizes the North American health system: the issue of health insurance, the lack of a Unified Health System and the hospital budget that makes it difficult to hire professionals. In a contrary way, the script portrays in good eyes the police duo Tim (Noah Emmerich) and Danny (Nnamdi Asomugha), focused on solving the crime, even if they need to use Amy as a means to catch Charles. To quote them, the relationship built is one of the most intriguing I’ve seen this year: at the beginning, Charles’ presence ensures Amy’s tranquility; then, she must feign ignorance about the crimes committed, forcing Jessica Chastain to have an irresolute and urgent tone to the nurse’s exhaustion.
Meanwhile, Eddie Redmayne operates within a principle in which we do not perceive evil or cruelty in Charles. The acting also has the good decision to reveal him as a guy who seems to make a grandiose effort to socialize, less close to Amy, making his relationship with her even more incendiary.
