The most popular movies of 2022 for you to marathon this year-end

2022/12/30

After 2020 and 2021, which were marked by the worst of the pandemic, it looked like cinema would triumph in 2022. After all, with people vaccinated and restrictions lifted, studios could once again delight the public. .

We had “Top Gun: Maverick”, hitting the big screen after several delays – and exploding with critical, public and financial success. It grossed nearly $1.5 billion in theaters around the world, the 11th-highest box office in history.

At Disney, Marvel Studios kept the momentum going and released three movies – which were moderate successes, and in terms of quality. There was the release of, “Turning Red”, among others.

Among the Sony Pictures releases was “The Woman King”, which, if not a great box office success, had many artistic merits.

The movie “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, was successful in playing with the formula of the multiverse, to create a dramatic comedy of the absurd with a lot of adventure. And “Get Out” filmmaker Jordan Peele took a risk with his most ambitious project yet, the very good (if controversial) “Don’t Look Up”

For those who haven’t watched the most popular of 2022, I’m going to write a little about some of them. You can watch all of them for free by downloading the youcine app on your cell phone or on your TV Box or Smart TV. Enjoy!

Top Gun: Indomitable Aces

After 36 years of the success of “Top Gun: Indomitable Aces”, Tom Cruise returns to the skies with “Top Gun: Maverick”. The film brings back that “heartbreaker” cinema air of the 1980s, but with hints of other franchises, such as “Star Wars” and “Fast & Furious”. In history, we discover that Maverick (as well as his interpreter, Cruise) has barely aged and continues to make the same surprises around. But with pilots on the verge of becoming old-fashioned, the Navy needs the former instructor for an important mission – which includes training a new generation of indomitable aces. All this done by a great direction by Joseph Kosinski, who pays a beautiful tribute to the original director (the late Tony Scott) while showing a more current air. The production was an extraordinary success in theaters, precisely because it has this mix of nostalgia, the weight of actor Tom Cruise and, of course, because it is a great cinematic experience. It’s worth seeing or reviewing, now in the comfort of home, even more so now that you can watch this movie for free! Crazy Rich Asians

“Everything everywhere at once” addresses the concept of the multiverse, made famous in recent Marvel Studios films and series. Here, a middle-aged woman with serious problems in her personal life, played by Michelle Yeoh (“Crazy Rich Asians”), becomes an unlikely heroine who needs to jump from one alternate universe to another while facing a parallel version of own daughter. Describing it this way, it may seem like a confusing film, but, in fact, it is a story about missed chances, day-to-day difficulties and reconnection between mother and daughter, the production plays with the very structures of the seventh art.

Get Out

Few directors of today’s horror cinema are as competent as Jordan Peele. Here, the director of “Get Out!” returns with a surprising epic story about a young film and TV animal trainer named OJ (Daniel Kaluuya, Oscar winner for “Judas and the Black Messiah”), who finds himself in the middle of a bizarre plot involving a way to unknown life. All mixed with suspense and mystery, creating something that frightens not because of the blood, but because of the dimension and atmosphere created. In this way, with a touch of Steven Spielberg’s cinema, Peele recalls themes such as: the excessive pursuit of fame, the romanticization of violence and the incessant pursuit of perfection. In “No! Não Olha” there is a questioning of the spectacle itself.

Red: Crescer é Uma Fera

In this year 2022 Pixar released two films. If with “Lightyear” the studio frustrated the spectators’ expectations, in “Red: Crescer é Uma Fera” it made up for it. In a fun way, the animation tells the coming of age story of Mei, a 13-year-old girl who turns into a red panda every time she experiences a strong emotion – in a metaphor about the transformations of puberty and, mainly, the first period. . This is told in a cute and funny way that countless girls will relate to. While not groundbreaking, “Red” was certainly one of the best animated features this year.
