The plot
It is a horror and comedy series that shows the daily life of Wandinha Addams (Jenna Ortega). Why is Wandinha called “Wednesday” in English?
A curious thing is that the main character is called Wednesday in English. Although this change does not affect the visual part of the series, since in both languages the character has a “W” at the beginning of her name, the origin of this particularity has generated curiosity.
Charles Addams, the creator of the Addams Family, named the character “Wednesday”, inspired by an old children’s song that predicted the baby’s personality, according to the day of the week he was born. The song is derived from the poem “Monday’s Child”, which was published in the year 1838.
During the first episode of the series, Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones), says that her daughter’s name comes from a phrase from her favorite childhood poem. Although the girl was born on Friday the 13th, her personality was reflected in the characteristics of children born on Wednesday, which made the mother choose that name.
